# Overview

> Manage fee sponsorship with prepaid credits or postpaid billing

Fee sponsorship lets an app cover network gas and swap provider fees for eligible wallet activity. It is available self-serve from the [Privy Dashboard](https://dashboard.privy.io/apps?page=fee-sponsorship) using prepaid credits.

Privy supports two billing models. Prepaid billing uses credits purchased in advance. Postpaid billing meters usage and invoices it at the end of the month.

## Setup

### Choosing your plan

| Model | How it works | When usage is paid for |
| - | - | - |
| Prepaid | Sponsored gas and swap provider fees use the account's prepaid credit balance. | In advance, as a top-up |
| Postpaid | Privy meters each charge and adds it to a monthly invoice. | In arrears, at the end of the month |

<Note>
  Postpaid billing is available on the Enterprise plan. Contact
  [sales@privy.io](mailto:sales@privy.io) to enable it for an account.
</Note>

### Purchasing credits (prepaid)

Prepaid credits cover gas and swap provider fee sponsorship across the account's apps.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add credits">
    Open [**Billing > Fee sponsorship**](https://dashboard.privy.io/billing?tab=fee-sponsorship) and
    select **Add credits**. Choose an amount and confirm the purchase. Add a payment method when
    prompted, if one is not already saved.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure sponsorship for an app">
    Open the app's [**Fee sponsorship**](https://dashboard.privy.io/apps?page=fee-sponsorship) page.
    Enable [**Sponsor gas fees**](/wallets/gas-and-asset-management/gas/setup), [**Sponsor swap
    provider fees**](/wallets/actions/transfer/fixed-rates#setup), or both.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The available balance must cover the sponsored fees. If credits are insufficient, add credits before retrying the transaction.

Manage the balance, **Automated credit refill**, and notification settings from **Billing > Fee sponsorship**.

<Info>
  To query prepaid gas credit consumption for a set of wallets, use the [gas spend
  endpoint](/wallets/gas-and-asset-management/gas/gas-spend).
</Info>

## Sponsored fees

Both billing models support the following fees. On postpaid accounts, each usage type appears separately on the monthly invoice.

| Usage type | What it covers |
| - | - |
| Gas sponsorship | Network gas the app sponsored for a transaction, on apps that use [gas sponsorship](/wallets/gas-and-asset-management/gas/overview). |
| Swap provider fees | Routing and swap fees on all supported routes for [transfers](/wallets/actions/transfer/bridging), [swaps](/wallets/actions/swap/overview), and [crypto deposit addresses](/wallets/funding/crypto-deposits/overview) with [fee sponsorship](/wallets/actions/transfer/fixed-rates). Slippage is covered only for [fixed-rate routes](/wallets/actions/transfer/supported-sponsored-routes). |

A single wallet action can produce more than one charge. A transfer with both sponsorship settings enabled incurs gas and swap provider fee charges.

## Consuming charge events

Usage webhooks help apps track sponsored gas and swap provider fee charges. Each event includes the charge amount and the wallet action that incurred it.
